Thin-layer titanium hydroxide produced by the method of nascent reagen
ts and exhibiting high specificity to uranium and other hydrolyzable e
lements is studied with the aim to create sorbents with optimal interi
or organization for fast and complete recovery of radionuclides. The s
tructure of precipitates and films of titanium hydroxide is studied by
electron microscopy. The hierarchic structure of titanium hydroxide a
nd the size of particles that form precipitates and films are disclose
d. Ultramicro- and microparticles are the major elements determining s
orption properties of the materials obtained.
