Abstract
Diffusion coefficients of Sr-90, Cs-137, and Pu-239 and parameters of the convection transport of fuel particles of radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl accident were estimated from model experiments for typi cal soils of the Ukrainian Poles'ye. The role of the soil moisture con tent and physicochemical properties of radionuclides in the diffusion and directional transport of radionuclides in different soils is consi dered. The rate of the directional transport of fuel particles along t he soil profile is considerably lower than that of radionuclides taken in the water-soluble form. Submicron fuel particles play a dominant r ole in radionuclide migration along the soil profile.
