Abstract
Using data from the COMPTEL telescope on board the Compton Gamma-Ray O bservatory (CGRO) we have discovered an unidentified source at 1 simil ar or equal to 165 degrees and b similar or equal to 57 degrees (error region of similar to 1 degrees radius) in the energy range 0.75-3.00 MeV. The source was found in data from Phase 1 and Phase 2 (June 28, 1 991 - July 27, 1993) of the observation program of CGRO. The overall d etection significance is above 8 sigma for the combination of seven vi ewing periods. There is an indication of flux variability between June 1991 and July 1993. As a counterpart a number of sources are consider ed, among them AGN, radio and X-ray sources, neutron stars and high-ve locity clouds.
