The electrodeposition of Fe(II) in ZnCl2-ZNaCl melt at 450 degrees C w
as studied at molybdenum and tungsten electrodes and the results are c
ompared with those obtained at glassy carbon in previous work. The kin
etics of the electrodeposition and electrocrystallization of iron were
studied, showing that the process is quasireversible, and the values
of the kinetic parameters k(o) and alpha were obtained. Mass transport
towards the electrode is a simple diffusion process and the diffusion
coefficient was obtained by applying different electrochemical techni
ques. Potential step measurements indicate that instantaneous nucleati
on and growth phenomena play a part in the overall process.
