The photon drag effect in a two-dimensional electron gas of a GaAs/AlG
aAs multi-quantum well system is measured using the ps infrared pulses
of the wavelength-tunable free electron laser source FELIX. The tempo
ral response of the sample on a ps timescale has been verified, and th
e continuous spectral response through the intersubband resonance is i
nvestigated for low and high intensities al room temperature aid al T=
100 K. An analysis of the lineshape yields information about the momen
tum relaxation times of the electrons in the ground and excited subban
ds.
