The magnetic-field-induced distortion of the Fermi contour of the 2D e
lectron gas has been investigated. The resulting increase in the cyclo
tron effective mass (the density of states) was measured by the cyclot
ron resonance, the temperature damping of Shubnikov-de Haas oscillatio
ns and the longitudinal magnetoresistance. The experimental data are c
ompared with results of self-consistent calculations.
