Abstract
Decisions in purchasing healthcare products are based on fiscal respon sibility, employee safety, regulatory agency guidelines, and environme ntal conservation. One of today's major dilemmas in health care is tha t of disposing of medical waste. The Isolyser Company of Norcross, Geo rgia, is one of the first to develop a biocycle system to reduce the p roblem of contaminated waste. A description of the system is provided, along with its advantages and disadvantages (Infect Control Hosp Epid emiol 1996;17;434-437).
