The interaction of [(Bu(t)N)(2)Re-VI(mu-NBu(t))](2) 1 with trifluorome
thanesulfonic acid gave the amido complex N)(Bu(t)HN)Re(mu-NBu(t))(2)R
e(NBu(t))(2)][CF3SO3], where the cation has a structure very similar t
o that of its manganese(VI) analogue. The interaction of 1 with silver
triflate differs from the similar reaction with [(Bu(t)N)(2)Mn-VI(mu-
NBu(t))](2) in that a silver complex N)Re(mu-NBu(t))](2)(mu-NBu(t))(2)
Ag(mu-O3SCF3)}(2) that has NBu(t) groups bridging both rhenium and sil
ver atoms with the latter having mu-O3SCF3 bridges is formed. A simila
r complex t)N)Re(mu-NBu(t))](2)(mu-NBu(t))(2)Cu-2(O3SCF3)(2) was obtai
ned by interaction of 1 with Cu(O-3-SCF3). 0.5C(6)H(6) but this has Re
(mu-NBu(t))Cu(O3SCF3) groups. Interaction of 1 with Al(O3SCF3)(3) . nC
F(3)SO(3)H in CH2Cl2 gave a linear molecule -NBu(t))(2)Re(NBu(t))(mu-O
H)(2)Al(O3SCF3)(3)(H2O). The crystal structures of four compounds have
been determined. An improved synthesis of 1 involving Na/Hg reduction
of Re(NBu(t))(3)I was elaborated.
