Abstract
A vacuum-drying process in which the partial vapor pressure in a dryin g chamber is constant and the heater temperature is controlled is desc ribed mathematically. Effects of various parameters on the drying kine tics are analyzed and an optimal-control problem for the process when a restriction is imposed on the temperature of the material to be drie d is considered. It is shown that the model adequately fits experiment al data.
