We develop the zero-pole structure of rational matrix functions Theta(
s) that satisfy an identity of the form Theta(s)V-T Theta(s) = V for s
ome square matrix V for which V = alpha V-T, where alpha = +/-1. As an
application we describe the set of symmetric or antisymmetric solutio
ns of a set of bitangential interpolation conditions. Solutions of bit
angential interpolation conditions satisfying other types of symmetrie
s are also discussed.
