Rd. Sampson et al., A SIMPLE EXPERIMENT TO MEASURE THE SPLASH MASS PRODUCED BY A FREE-FALLING BUOYANT SPHERE IMPACTING A DEEP QUIESCENT LIQUID, Journal of colloid and interface science, 181(2), 1996, pp. 673-675
Experimental data show that the splash mass produced by a free-falling
buoyant sphere impacting a water surface is a function of its impact
velocity raised to the power 2.67 +/- 0.06. This result is consistent
with wave tank experiments on a scale model of a fishing vessel where
the splash flux was found to be a function of the ship's velocity rais
ed to the power of 2.95 +/- 0.40. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
