Abstract
We describe a patient who developed the unusual haemodynamic phenomeno n of periodic intermittent electromechanical dissociation during regul ar sinus tachycardia about 20 hours after mitral valve replacement wit h a tilting disc mechanical prosthesis. Echocardiographic confirmation allowed prompt and life saving corrective surgery for a stuck prosthe tic valve disc. (C) 1996 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
