Abstract
The HemA genes encoding glutamyl-tRNA reductase, an important enzyme i n chlorophyll and heme biosynthesis, are located on barley chromosome 5 (1H), homoeologous chromosomes 1A, 1B, and 1D of common wheat, and r ye chromosome 1R. Southern blot analyses revealed a low copy multigene family for HemA genes in the barley genome.
