F. Hartig et al., OPTIMIZATION OF COMPLEX-REACTIONS BY MIXED-INTEGER ITERATIVE DYNAMIC-PROGRAMMING, Theoretical foundations of chemical engineering, 30(1), 1996, pp. 50-60
An iterative method of dynamic programming is applied to reaction prob
lems with complex kinetics, which are carried out in continuous stirre
d tank reactors (CSTR) and a quench-type reactor. As an example of a c
omplex reaction, the Denbigh reaction scheme was taken. A special feat
ure of the optimization problem is the appearance of multiple steady s
tates, which leads to mixed integer problems. In order to calculate mi
xed integer problems, the iterative dynamic programming (IDP) is exten
ded.
