Remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) play a fundame
ntal role in hydrological applications. In this paper the most commonl
y used processing procedures for remotely sensed data in particular im
age processing techniques - and the capabilities of GIS technologies a
re presented. The aim of this paper is to show the merit of a combinat
ion of these tools with hydrological models. An important aspect herei
n is the use of image processing systems, GIS, database management sys
tems (DBMS) and hydrological models in a integrated analysis system.
