A flux measurement system has been developed for measuring the integra
ted strength and relative shape of the magnetic field of Fermilab Main
Injector dipoles. Improved field shape measurements have been obtaine
d by constructing coil geometries which reduce the flux contribution f
rom unwanted held derivatives. A bucking coil scheme employing referen
ce coils in bath the test magnet and a reference magnet reduce the sen
sitivity to power supply fluctuations. Design strategies for various m
easurement requirements are described, along with the details of imple
menting an assembly to measure curved 6 m and 4 m dipoles. Some repres
entative results and comparison with redundant measurement systems are
presented.
