Abstract
It is shown through an exact analytic procedure, carried out in schema tic random-phase approximation, that the use of a deformed mean field, derived in Hartree approximation from a quadrupole-quadrupole interac tion, leads to a complete separation of the rotational mode from the l ow- and high-energy M1 states. The same states remain pure even if pai ring correlations are included and treated in the BCS approximation.
