Abstract
A prototype of a motor has been developed. An electromechanical model of the free stator is proposed by introducing losses and the rotor loa d, and an expression of the efficiency is given. The vibrational behav iour is characterized by laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV). The mechanic al losses are plotted as a function of the vibration velocity. For the (1, 1) mode, they increase rapidly, contrary to the radial mode and c ause saturation of the vibration velocity at a medium voltage level. T he mechanical characteristics of the motor are achieved. The efficienc y is calculated and the different losses are estimated. Finally, the t hermal behaviour of the motor is investigated.
