J. Bradbury et al., A CANADIAN EXPERIMENT WITH BREAST-CANCER INFORMATION EXCHANGE PILOT PROJECTS, Patient education and counseling, 28(2), 1996, pp. 169-174
Responding to concerns articulated by Canadian women living with breas
t cancer and their families, the federal government has provided $2.7
million over five years to establish five regional information exchang
e pilot projects. Women experience considerable variation in access to
information reflecting different resources, communication links and h
ealth care delivery systems in each province or territory. The five in
formation projects are taking different approaches to enhance coordina
tion of existing resources and involve women living with breast cancer
to improve access to credible, timely, breast cancer information.
