The surface currents which form on a vehicle body when exposed to an e
lectromagnetic wave are examined. First the underlying physical relati
onships as present on a simple frame structure are analyzed by numeric
simulation and an equivalent circuit. It is then shown that the compl
ex shape of a motor vehicle can be described by the combination of sev
eral frames. In addition, the simulated results obtained from a simple
car model are compared with real test results.
