Abstract
Hitherto unreported penta-coordinated triarylarsenic(V) complexes of S chiff bases of the general formula Ar(3)AsL (Ar = C6H5, p-CH3C6H4, p-C lC6H4, p-FC6H4 and C6F5; L = dibasic tri- and tetradentate ligands wit h ONO and ONNO systems) have been synthesised along with some triaryla ntimony complexes with similar tridentate ligands. The complexes, whic h are yellow crystalline solids, have been characterised by elemental analyses, IR, H-1 and F-19 NMR spectral data sp(3)d and sp(3)d(2) hybr idisation has been suggested for the arsenic and antimony derivatives, respectively, on the basis of spectral data.
