Abstract
Retentive clasp components can be created to minimize torquing forces on abutment teeth incorporated in the support and retention of bilater al distal extension removable partial dentures. Functional movement of the combined tooth-mucosa-borne prosthesis about the axis of rotation necessitates consideration of retentive element design modifications, particularly as they relate to bilateral asymmetric distal extension situations.
