Iv. Yakoumis et al., APPLICATION OF THE LCVM MODEL TO SYSTEMS CONTAINING ORGANIC-COMPOUNDSAND SUPERCRITICAL CARBON-DIOXIDE, The Journal of supercritical fluids, 9(2), 1996, pp. 88-98
A recently developed equation of state-excess Gibbs free energy (EOS/G
(E)) model with the LCVM (linear combination of Vidal and Michelsen) m
ixing rule, capable of successful VLE prediction in asymmetric systems
is applied to the prediction of solubilities of alkenes, ethers, acid
s, alcohols, and esters in supercritical carbon dioxide. Considering t
he experimental uncertainties, excellent correlation of binary data an
d satisfactory prediction of ternary and multicomponent equilibria are
obtained in most cases over a wide range of temperature, pressure, an
d system asymmetry. These promising results render the LCVM model a us
eful tool for the preliminary design of processes involving mixtures w
ith organic compounds and supercritical carbon dioxide.
