Ag. Rojo et R. Merlin, PERSISTENT MAGNETIC-MOMENT OF ROTATING MESOSCOPIC RINGS AND CYLINDERS, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 54(3), 1996, pp. 1877-1879
We discuss the persistent magnetic moment of rotating rings and cylind
ers in the mesoscopic regime. For these systems, the electronic moment
of inertia is not given by the classical value, and as a consequence
the ionic and electronic currents do not compensate. This gives rise t
o a permanent magnetic moment, analogous to the London moment in rotat
ing superconductors, which should be experimentally observable. We als
o discuss the relationship between the nonclassical moment of inertia
and the conductivity of mesoscopic rotating rings.
