The Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust International Training Programm
e of the Wildlife Preservation Trusts has been in operation for almost
20 years, during which time it has expanded greatly and made signific
ant strides. The International Training Centre has now received over 7
70 participants from 83 countries, who come to learn zoo-based skills
to protect species from extinction. Courses are centred around theoret
ical and practical instruction. The focus of this paper is to present
a retrospective look at the growth of the training programme and its a
chievements and to introduce the new programme that has been in place
since 1994.
