Abstract
The Jersey Wildlife Preservation Trust International Training Programm e of the Wildlife Preservation Trusts has been in operation for almost 20 years, during which time it has expanded greatly and made signific ant strides. The International Training Centre has now received over 7 70 participants from 83 countries, who come to learn zoo-based skills to protect species from extinction. Courses are centred around theoret ical and practical instruction. The focus of this paper is to present a retrospective look at the growth of the training programme and its a chievements and to introduce the new programme that has been in place since 1994.
