A novel method for resolution of completely overlapping HPLC-UV two-di
mensional peaks is developed in this paper, For two-dimensional measur
ed data of two-component mixture, the pure spectra can be obtained if
there is a single component region in the completely overlapping regio
n and the spectra are linearly independent, The determination of pure
spectra is equivalent to an optimizing problem, The numeric genetic al
gorithm is used to find the optimum solution. The method is carried ou
t to analyze 2,4-dinitrophenol and 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid and the imp
urity in tetracyclin hydrochloride.
