Abstract
An investigation into the dynamic behaviour of an elastic planar mecha nism is presented. The effects of varying cross-sectional parameters o n such dynamic characteristics as natural frequency, inertia forces, s tress and elastic deformation energy of the mechanism is examined by c hanging the width and height of links with rectangular cross-section. The relationship between the natural frequency and these parameters of the mechanism is derived theoretically and illustrated by means of a numerical example. By appropriate choice of cross-sectional dimensions , significant reductions in inertia force and stress are shown to be a chievable. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
