Pasteurella dagmatis is a commensal bacteria of the respiratory airway
s and gastrointestinal flora of animals. This bacteria, previously kno
wn as Pasteurella ''gas'', Pasteurella new species 1 or Pasteurella pn
eumotropica type Henriksen is rarely implicated in human pathology. We
report the isolation of this bacteria, associated with Moraxella sp,
from a wound infection on the right hand resulting from a dog bite. Af
ter surgical and medical treatment, the patient's condition was improv
ed. P. dagmatis is often isolated simultaneously with other bacteria a
nd mis-identification may have contributed to a slightly underestimate
d frequency of its isolation.
