The name C. canimorsus was assigned to a Gram-negative bacillus former
ly called DF-2, The first strain was received at the Centers for Disea
se Control in 1961. In 1976, the first case report implicating this ba
cterium as the cause of septicaemia and meningitis was published, Sinc
e, there have been increasingly frequent reports of severe C. canimors
us infections, We present here three case reports of C. canimorsus inf
ections in Pontoise hospital. Clinical features are summarised. Microb
iological characteristics, epidemiology and treatement are reviewed.
