An additive-pulse mode-locked Nd:YAG laser is studied experimentally a
nd numerically. We observe dynamic instabilities such as period doubli
ng, quasi-periodicity, and high-dimensional chaos. Dependence on contr
ol parameters such as peak nonlinear phase shift and cavity-length mis
match are discussed. We provide evidence for instabilities in the temp
