The temperature dependence of the heat capacity C-p(0) = f(T), and the
temperatures an enthalpies of physical transitions were studied by ad
iabatic-vacuum and dynamic calorimetry in maleic anhydride and an alte
rnating copolymer of furan and maleic anhydride in the temperature ran
ge from 5 to 420 K, The energy of combustion Delta U-c(p) of maleic an
hydride at T = 298.15 K was measured with the aid of a static-bomb iso
thermal-shell calorimeter, Using the experimental data, the thermodyna
mic functions of the copolymer and maleic anhydride, including C-p(0)(
T), H-0(T)-H-0(0), S-0(T), and G(0)(T)-H-0(0), are calculated at 0-350
K and the standard pressure. The enthalpy of combustion Delta H-c(0)
and the thermochemical parameters of copolymer formation are calculate
d for T = 298.15 K and p = 101.325 kPa. The results of these calculati
ons are used to calculate the thermodynamic parameters for the copolym
erization reaction.
