La. Leites et al., PHASE-TRANSITION IN CRYSTALLINE POLY(DIET HYLSILANE) DEFREEZING THE CONFORMATIONAL ISOMERISM IN ETHYL SUBSTITUENTS, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 38(5), 1996, pp. 924-928
X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopic, and DSC studies revealed a fir
st-order phase transition in poly(diethylsilane) at similar to 35 degr
ees C. This transition is associated with the disordering and involves
an increase in the unit cell volume such that the symmetry of the uni
t cell is retained but conformational isomerism in the side ethyl subs
tituents appears, whereas the silicon backbone retains the trans confo
rmation.
