E. Varoglu et al., DIAGNOSTIC-VALUE OF TC-99M HIG SCINTIGRAPHY IN THE DETECTION OF ACUTEAPPENDICITIS, Clinical nuclear medicine, 21(8), 1996, pp. 645-647
The diagnosis of acute appendicitis, which is the most important cause
of abdominal infections, may be done with a scoring system based on p
atient history, and physical and laboratory examinations. Recently, va
rious scintigraphic techniques have also been used for the detection o
f acute appendicitis. Two patients with suspected acute appendicitis w
ere investigated scintigraphically to assess the value of Tc-99m label
ed HIG in the diagnosis of clinically suspected acute appendicitis. Sc
intigraphic results suggested that HIG scintigraphy is a rapid, import
ant, accurate, and safe method in the detection of acute appendicitis.
