Abstract
It has long been suspected that mineral surfaces may have been importa nt in prebiotic chemistry The recent demonstrations of extended oligom erization of nucleotides, amino acids and carbohydrates on mineral sur faces add support to the potential prebiotic importance of minerals, b ut leave a number of questions unanswered.
