Abstract
The paper ''Overcoming ray chaos'' [J. Acoust. Sec. Am. 95, 3167-3170 (1994)] by Collins and Kuperman incorrectly suggests that ray chaos ca n be overcome by a suitable choice of numerical techniques. Chaos, whe n present, is a property of the ray equations, and not the numerical t echniques used to solve these equations. (C) 1996 Acoustical Society o f America.
