Abstract
The ligand 3,4-toluenediamine-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate in the title comp ound, K[Fe(C15H14N2O8)(H2O)].1.5H(2)O, is hexadentate, but the central iron(III) ion is seven-coordinate, with one coordinated water molecul e. The complex has roughly pentagonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Fe-N b ond lengths are 2.304 (3)Angstrom in the para position and 2.349 (3) A ngstrom in the meta position with respect to the methyl group. The pre sence of the CH3 group increases the basicity of the N atom in the par a position, shortening the length of the Fe-N bond.
