In the structures of both of the title compounds, C17H28O2Si, (I), and
C23H32O3Si, (II), the bulkiest substituents are trans with respect to
one another, Le. the phenyl group (or substituted phenyl) is trans wi
th respect to the tert-butyl group. In compound (I), the methyl group
at ring-position 4 is in a trans configuration relative to the tert-bu
tyl group. The oxetane rings in both structures, especially (II), are
non-planar. Both structures contain long C-O single bonds in the four-
membered ring (1.44-1.46 Angstrom), which is typical of oxetane struct
ures.
