Abstract
The structure of the title compound consists of discrete C16H13C12NO2 molecules with a closest intermolecular contact of 2.54 (3) Angstrom b etween the carbonyl O atom and a methyl H atom, The four-membered ring is nearly planar, with long C-C distances of 1.564 (5) and 1.537 (5) Angstrom, similar to the distances observed in other substituted monoc yclic beta-lactams. The dihedral angle between the planes of the pheny l rings is 78.6(1)degrees.
