During the past 15 years, a wide variety of technologies have been dev
eloped that can be used for the treatment of wastewater for reuse appl
ications, To assess the need for alternative technologies, potential r
euse applications are reviewed, Changes in wastewater management, incl
uding the growing importance of decentralized wastewater management, i
s examined. The role of decentralized wastewater management is conside
red with respect to wastewater treatment, reclamation, and reuse. Tech
nologies are presented and discussed for a wide range of reuse applica
tions, ranging from individual homes to large centralized systems. The
performance of representative technologies is assessed. A brief revie
w of the water resources of Greece is presented to provide some perspe
ctive on the potential for wastewater reclamation and reuse in Greece.
