NOTES ON BRITISH SPECIES OF TRICHOPHAEA

Taxa of Trichophaea listed in the check-list of British Ascamycotina h ave been examined based on herbarium material and the literature. Six species are recognizable from British collections. Trichophaea paludos a is reported as new to Britain and ir. pseudogregaria is shown to be its synonym. Trichophaea variomata is considered as the correct name f or the British material previously named as T. pseudogregaria. Comment s on the nomenclature and British records of other taxa in this genus are presented, and a key to the recognized British species of Trichoph aea is provided.
