The hydrolytic degradation of hyaluronic acid (HA) was investigated by
kinetic measurements. The first-order rate constants of the hydrolyti
c degradation of HA at different pH and temperature were obtained on t
he basis of the decrease in the molecular weight of HA. In addition, f
rom the rate constant, we obtained the activation entropy (Delta S) a
nd enthalpy (Delta H), and under all conditions studied the experimen
tal data gave linear plots according to an isokinetic relationship. Co
