Abstract
We investigate the flow between coaxial co-rotating disks in the situa tion where a strong axial vortex is present over a turbulent backgroun d. We show that concepts recently introduced for homogeneous turbulent flows can be applied for the study of inhomogeneous turbulence of thi s kind. It seems that the cascade process is preserved although modifi ed by the large-scale coherent structure.
