Abstract
Curie point pyrolysis with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry has be en employed to characterize some proteinaceous media used in the art f ield as painting binders: milk casein, egg yolk, egg albumin, bone glu e, skin glue, rabbit glue and fish glue. A careful analysis of the gas chromatograms so obtained has led to the distinction of the different proteinaceous binders in terms of different chromatographic profiles. Some of the pyrolysis products have been identified by library search .
