Curie point pyrolysis with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry has be
en employed to characterize some proteinaceous media used in the art f
ield as painting binders: milk casein, egg yolk, egg albumin, bone glu
e, skin glue, rabbit glue and fish glue. A careful analysis of the gas
chromatograms so obtained has led to the distinction of the different
proteinaceous binders in terms of different chromatographic profiles.
