Abstract
Attempts to account for the positive, and often large, wage premium pa id to married men based on their greater productivity have been inconc lusive. Using data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth, thi s paper provides new evidence that labor productivity differences betw een married and never-married men are unlikely to be the cause of the marriage premium.
