IN-VITRO ADSORBANCE OF FLUORIDE BY BONE

Adsorption of fluoride into normal bovine compact bone in vitro produc ed the brown mottling that is characteristic of fluoride. The data sho w that cell activity is not required to produce this sign of fluorotox icosis. This suggests that fluoride induced cell injury in bone or den tin may result from the local release of fluoride that is incorporated into the apatite phase of hard tissues.
