Sa. Center et al., FULMINANT HEPATIC-FAILURE ASSOCIATED WITH ORAL-ADMINISTRATION OF DIAZEPAM IN 11 CATS, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 209(3), 1996, pp. 618
Acute fulminant hepatic necrosis may be associated with repeated oral
administration of diazepam, at recommended dosages, in cats. Initial c
linical signs include lethargy, ataxia, and anorexia. If serum alanine
or aspartate transaminase activity increases within 5 days of initiat
ion of diazepam treatment in cats, suspending administration of the dr
ug is recommended.
