An outbreak of drug-resistant Salmonella anatum was detected in horses
at a veterinary clinic and university veterinary medical teaching hos
pital. A similar pattern of drug resistance was identified in isolates
oi S anatum and other enteric bacteria cultured from the environment.
Outbreaks of infection caused by Salmonella spp may be contained or p
revented by use of rigorous cleaning and management strategies.
