A binary crystallizable glass composite containing cordierite glass an
d anorthite glass for applications in the area of low-dielectric multi
layer ceramic packaging has been investigated. The initially amorphous
glass composite forms crystalline phases of anorthite and cordierite
during firing, and can be densified up to a relative sintered density
greater than 97% at 875 degrees C for 15-60 min. The resultant composi
tes have a dielectric constant in the range of 4.7-5.3 at 1 MHz and a
linear thermal expansion coefficient of 3.7-5.1 x 10(-6) K-1 in the te
mperature range of 20-200 degrees C.
