Abstract
Electrochemical data recorded for copper electrodes immersed in a solu tion containing thiourea indicates that thiourea is adsorbed at potent ials more negative than the onset of copper oxide formation, and the p assive layer is built upon a layer of adsorbed thiourea. Thus, anodiza tion of the specimens leads to the establishment of a competition betw een the formation of an anodic layer containing thiourea and the oxide s layer, and the electrodissolution of the metal through the anodic fi lm.
