Abstract
A new type of 2-D cascade-parallel adaptive infinite impulse response (IIR) filters with adaptive algorithm based on the concept of back pro pagation method is developed. This class of filter consists of paralle l blocks each of which includes all-zero (transversal) and all-pole se ctions in cascade form realizations. At first a 2-D cascade-parallel f ilter structure is introduced, then an efficient adaptive algorithm is proposed using the concept of backpropagating the desired signal. Fin ally, the applications of this type of 2-D adaptive IIR filters in 2-D system identification and noise reduction in an image are illustrated with numerical examples.
